Dustin W. Metz focuses his practice on probate and trust administration. He serves clients with the administration of estates and trusts and the legal and procedural issues that arise throughout the process.

Dustin has worked extensively on statewide court initiatives involving judicial administration, procedural reform and access to justice. He has also contributed to major court reports and proposed procedural changes, giving him a strong understanding of the rules, systems and practical considerations that shape estate and trust administration.

Prior to joining Diamond & Lile, Dustin served with the Office of the State Courts Administrator, most recently as chief of innovations and outreach. He was lead staff to the Judicial Management Council and several statewide workgroups, including the Workgroup on Uncontested Probate Proceedings, where he helped develop recommendations concerning the administration of probate matters in Florida.

Earlier in his career, Dustin held legal and leadership positions with the Florida Department of Financial Services and served as an attorney with the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation and the Florida Department of Children and Families.

Dustin has served in a variety of volunteer and nonprofit leadership roles. He served as treasurer and a director of the Turkey Roost Mini-Farms Homeowners Association and previously served as general counsel for Farming the Future Inc.

He also served on the Technology Committee of The Florida Bar’s Government Lawyer Section, including a term as committee chair. His additional community service includes work as a volunteer firefighter and as a volunteer guardian with the Guardian ad Litem Program.
